Peanut pancake turnover (“Apam balik”)

“Apam balik” (also known as Peanut pancake turnover) or “Ban jian kuih” (in Hokkien) is a delicious unique pancake and usually sold at specialist roadside stalls throughout Malaysia.

If you are living outside of Malaysia and crave for “apam balik”, below are the main ingredients to make it.

Ingredients :-

1 cup of flour
1 tsp of baking powder
1 tsp of soda bicarbonate
¼ cup of sugar
1 cup of milk
1 egg
1 tsp of salt

Peanut powder
Sugar
butter

Method:-

Beat milk, egg, sugar and salt in the bowl.
Add baking powder, soda bicarbonate.
Beat well, add flour.
Stir to make smooth batter.
Rest batter for 30 mins and cover with cloth or leave the batter overnight in the refrigerator.
Pour the batter (carefully) into a flat frying pan and sprinkle sugar followed by peanut powder
Add some butter to bring out the flavour (optional)
Let it cook and then fold it into half
Finally remove it from the flat frying pan
