Food review at Taboosh Lebanese Restaurant, Willoughby

If you are a fan of Middle Eastern food, you may want to try Taboosh Lebanese Restaurant located at 320 Penshurst Street, Willoughby. We went there for lunch and decided to order the “Taboosh Mix Plate” (AUD25) and the “Beirut Samka Hara (served with basmati rice)” (AUD24).

Taboosh Mix Plate

The BBQ meat served in skewers
Garlic Dip

Baba Ganouje (egg plant blended with tahini and lemon juice)

Homous (blended chick peas with tahini and lemon juice)

"Greens"

Lebanese bread
The “Taboosh Mix Plate” was made up of marinated BBQ chicken breast, lamb, “kafta” (Middle Eastern meat ball) served with “homous” (a puree of chick peas blended with tahini and lemon juice), “baba ganouje” (smoky chargrilled eggplant blended with tahini and lemon juice), garlic dip (blended garlic with olive oil) and greens (consist of tomato, fresh mint, shallots, parsley with lemon juice) served with a plate of Lebanese pita bread on the side. We enjoyed the lamb and “kafta” but the BBQ chicken breast was a bit too tough to our liking. The dips were simply delightful, in particular, the “baba ganouje” and the garlic dip.  Make sure you dip it with the Lebanese pita bread. The greens were really refreshing after the heavy meal. We would rate this dish 8/10.

"Beirut Samka Hara" (grilled fish served with basmati rice)
As for the “Beirut Samka Hara”, we found it tasty. The “Beirut Samka Hara” was made up of  fish fillet which was grilled to almost perfection (juicy, soft and tender) topped with spicy tahini sauce and mixed nuts. The dish was served with basmati rice which was more than enough to feed two mouths. A rather tasty dish, therefore, our rating is 8/10.

In conclusion and based on our dining experience at Taboosh Lebanese Restaurant, even though the price may be a bit steep but the portions served were rather big. We would give an overall rating of 7/10 for value for money. As for service, it took quite some time for the food to be prepared, there wasn’t any notice or advice given with regard to waiting time. Therefore, we would give a rating of 6/10. As for ambient, the restaurant is classified as fine dining with nice decor, therefore our rating is 7/10.
